Claire’s story:
When motherhood takes over
In my late teens and early 20s, I lived for the weekends to dance until sunrise the whole weekend with friends. At 23 the life I knew changed suddenly when I welcomed my daughter to the world. The bright lights of the dance floor faded into the distance as my beautiful baby was in my arms. But, like many first time mums, I found motherhood really hard to adjust to.
Seeing the light
Over the next decade, as a mum of three, it seemed the carefree dancing days, which meant so much to my soul, were long gone. Then in 2018, I discovered Clubbercise classes. I fell in love. I attended two a week, it was time where I could reconnect with myself. I felt care free. This did wonders for my mental wellbeing and the anxiety I was experiencing.
Lost in lockdown
During the 2020 lockdown, classes at my gym came to a stop. I was lost without the sessions. And I was more horrified when the classes stopped altogether.
It was so popular I knew I wouldn’t be the only one missing the sessions. Without hesitation, I signed myself up for training!
So here we are now, and I’m a Business and Operations Manager by day, Clubbercise instructor by night.
“I’m teaching around 70-85 Clubbers a week! Everyone’s so warm and welcoming. Clubbercise is far more than an exercise class, it’s a lifeline, a social group and a safe place for many people.”
Shine on
I found my pot of gold at the end of the neon rainbow that Clubbercise brought into my life when I discovered classes at my local gym.
Until I’m no longer able to dance like nobody’s watching, I will continue to shine on!
